The Wrath and the Dawn

The Wrath and the Dawn - Renee Ahdieh Very good, simple, engaging and fast-paced. A few inconstancies or eyebrow-raising facts (like sea-drenched sleeves drying a cup, or sunlight drowning Shazi's senses in a night venture, or caliphs allowing their wives sword lessons, or a Greek slave speaking about a "dram" of appreciation) and not much in terms of world-building, but good nonetheless. More than good.

Btw if you have qualms about a girl second-guessing doing away with a confirmed uxoricide this is probably not the book for you :)
Otherwise you'll be waiting, like me, for the next installment of this duology.

“It’s obscene. He deserves to be flogged.”
Says the king who murders a bride every morning.
